Real-Life Alignment

Special Operations Independent Duty Corpsman is an advanced Navy medical role trained to provide independent medical care in special operations environments.

Current SOTF / V35 Use

On the current site, SOIDC should be reserved for senior medical profiles with independent duty responsibility.

Unit Association

This MOS is currently associated on the website with Navy Medicine / 2nd Recon / Force Recon. Future member profiles should use the background image tied to the member's assigned unit association.

Command Profile Rule

When this MOS appears on a command profile, the profile must preserve the member's rank, unit, and MOS at the time of each billet, award, citation, or deployment. Current MOS changes should not overwrite older deployment history.

V35 / 3/5 heritage note: HM3 Armando G. Leal Jr. was posthumously awarded the Navy Cross while serving as a corpsman with Company M, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines during Operation Swift in Vietnam. This is the real green-side legacy the SOTF corpsman track is meant to respect.

SOTF Responsibilities

These responsibilities mirror the real-world function of the MOS while keeping it usable inside SOTF MISFIT operations.

  • Provide advanced medical support in austere or isolated settings.
  • Advise command on casualty management and medical risk.
  • Lead junior corpsmen when attached to task force operations.
  • Support special operations tasking as a senior medical provider.
  • Document medical leadership accurately in command profiles.

Pipeline Progression

This pipeline separates real-world alignment from how SOTF will apply the role in-game.

  1. Real-life route: Hospital Corpsman foundation, advanced special operations medical training, SOIDC training, and required sustainment.
  2. SOTF route: senior corpsman status, advanced casualty evaluation, command appointment, and medical leadership assignment.

Operational Employment

This MOS should be used when it gives the member a real task inside the formation. The role should support the commander, squad, airwing, recon team, medical section, or staff element in a way that matches the real-world purpose of the MOS.

Website Integration Notes

Command profiles using this MOS should follow the Kane West format: profile picture, rank and callsign, current role, deployment or prior-rank history where applicable, MOS/ADMOS, billet history, biography, qualifications, awards, citations, and a unit-associated background image.
