Real Life + Current SOTF History

Real-Life Alignment

A Field Medical Service Technician is a Navy Hospital Corpsman prepared to serve with Marine units in field conditions. This is the practical green-side foundation for corpsmen supporting Marines.

Current SOTF / V35 Use

In SOTF, this is the baseline Marine-side corpsman path for players who want to attach to V35 squads, 2nd Recon, Force Recon-style teams, or task-force ground elements.

Unit Association

This MOS is currently associated on the website with Navy Medicine / Fleet Marine Force. Future member profiles should use the background image tied to the member's assigned unit association.

Command Profile Rule

When this MOS appears on a command profile, the profile must preserve the member's rank, unit, and MOS at the time of each billet, award, citation, or deployment. Current MOS changes should not overwrite older deployment history.

V35 / 3/5 heritage note: HM3 Armando G. Leal Jr. was posthumously awarded the Navy Cross while serving as a corpsman with Company M, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines during Operation Swift in Vietnam. This is the real green-side legacy the SOTF corpsman track is meant to respect.

SOTF Responsibilities

These responsibilities mirror the real-world function of the MOS while keeping it usable inside SOTF MISFIT operations.

  • Move with Marines instead of remaining behind the fight.
  • Provide immediate casualty care, triage, and casualty collection support.
  • Report casualty status clearly to team leaders and command.
  • Understand basic Marine field movement, security, and communication expectations.
  • Keep medical support tied to the mission without freezing the entire operation.

Pipeline Progression

This pipeline separates real-world alignment from how SOTF will apply the role in-game.

  1. Real-life route: enlist as a Navy Hospital Corpsman and complete Hospital Corpsman training.
  2. Green-side route: complete Field Medical Service Technician training before attachment to Marine units when assigned.
  3. SOTF route: unit orientation, Field Corpsman training, casualty care evaluation, radio reporting evaluation, and squad attachment.
  4. Advanced route: progress toward platoon corpsman, senior corpsman, SARC-style, IDC, or SOIDC-style profiles based on qualification and command trust.

Operational Employment

This MOS should be used when it gives the member a real task inside the formation. The role should support the commander, squad, airwing, recon team, medical section, or staff element in a way that matches the real-world purpose of the MOS.

Website Integration Notes

Command profiles using this MOS should follow the Kane West format: profile picture, rank and callsign, current role, deployment or prior-rank history where applicable, MOS/ADMOS, billet history, biography, qualifications, awards, citations, and a unit-associated background image.
