History

Real Life + Current SOTF History

Real-Life Alignment

Real-world air control personnel support aircraft control, air traffic coordination, and safe movement of aircraft within assigned airspace or operating areas.

Current SOTF / V35 Use

On the current site, 72xx supports HMLA-269 and airwing integration by helping coordinate aircraft movement, airspace awareness, landing zones, and air-ground communication.

Unit Association

This MOS is currently associated on the website with Airwing / HMLA-269. Future member profiles should use the background image tied to the member's assigned unit association.

Command Profile Rule

When this MOS appears on a command profile, the profile must preserve the member's rank, unit, and MOS at the time of each billet, award, citation, or deployment. Current MOS changes should not overwrite older deployment history.

SOTF Responsibilities

These responsibilities mirror the real-world function of the MOS while keeping it usable inside SOTF MISFIT operations.

  • Coordinate aircraft movement around the battlespace.
  • Support landing zone and airspace awareness.
  • Help pilots and ground leaders maintain a shared air picture.
  • Relay aircraft status, approach, departure, and support information.
  • Reduce confusion when multiple aircraft or ground elements operate together.

Pipeline Progression

This pipeline separates real-world alignment from how SOTF will apply the role in-game.

  1. Real-life route: aviation or air-control accession and formal air-control training before assignment to the fleet.
  2. SOTF route: airwing orientation, radio evaluation, landing-zone procedures, and live-operation deconfliction practice.
  3. Advanced SOTF route: become the air-control link between HMLA-269, ground command, and fire-support roles.

Operational Employment

This MOS should be used when it gives the member a real task inside the formation. The role should support the commander, squad, airwing, recon team, medical section, or staff element in a way that matches the real-world purpose of the MOS.

Website Integration Notes

Command profiles using this MOS should follow the Kane West format: profile picture, rank and callsign, current role, deployment or prior-rank history where applicable, MOS/ADMOS, billet history, biography, qualifications, awards, citations, and a unit-associated background image.
