History

Real Life + Current SOTF History

Real-Life Alignment

Real-world fire support personnel help plan, request, coordinate, and control supporting fires. They serve as a link between maneuver units and supporting arms.

Current SOTF / V35 Use

On the current site, 08xx connects V35 ground maneuver with airwing integration, JTAC-style coordination, and missions where aircraft or external fires shape the fight.

Unit Association

This MOS is currently associated on the website with V35 Fire Support / Airwing Integration. Future member profiles should use the background image tied to the member's assigned unit association.

Command Profile Rule

When this MOS appears on a command profile, the profile must preserve the member's rank, unit, and MOS at the time of each billet, award, citation, or deployment. Current MOS changes should not overwrite older deployment history.

SOTF Responsibilities

These responsibilities mirror the real-world function of the MOS while keeping it usable inside SOTF MISFIT operations.

  • Coordinate fire support requests with maneuver leadership.
  • Track target descriptions, observer position, clearance, and desired effects.
  • Support air-ground integration when HMLA-269 or other air assets are involved.
  • Prevent confusion or unsafe fires by maintaining clear reporting.
  • Advise leaders on available supporting effects during mission planning.

Pipeline Progression

This pipeline separates real-world alignment from how SOTF will apply the role in-game.

  1. Real-life route: recruit training and combat skills foundation followed by formal fire-support or artillery-related training.
  2. SOTF route: call-for-fire format familiarization, air-ground coordination language, target talk-ons, and clearance discipline.
  3. Advanced SOTF route: JTAC-style support or senior fires coordination when earned.

Operational Employment

This MOS should be used when it gives the member a real task inside the formation. The role should support the commander, squad, airwing, recon team, medical section, or staff element in a way that matches the real-world purpose of the MOS.

Website Integration Notes

Command profiles using this MOS should follow the Kane West format: profile picture, rank and callsign, current role, deployment or prior-rank history where applicable, MOS/ADMOS, billet history, biography, qualifications, awards, citations, and a unit-associated background image.
