Real Life + Current SOTF History

Real-Life Alignment

Real-world Marine infantry is the Corps' primary ground-combat arm. Infantry Marines and officers are trained to locate, close with, and destroy the enemy by fire and maneuver or repel assault by fire and close combat.

Current SOTF / V35 Use

On the current SOTF site, this MOS family forms the V35/Darkhorse core. It also supports 2nd Recon and Force Recon association for members who move into reconnaissance billets. West's deployment-era 2nd Recon history remains here before his later HMLA-269 aviation transition.

Unit Association

This MOS is currently associated on the website with 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion / Force Recon. Future member profiles should use the background image tied to the member's assigned unit association.

Command Profile Rule

When this MOS appears on a command profile, the profile must preserve the member's rank, unit, and MOS at the time of each billet, award, citation, or deployment. Current MOS changes should not overwrite older deployment history.

SOTF Responsibilities

These responsibilities mirror the real-world function of the MOS while keeping it usable inside SOTF MISFIT operations.

  • Execute fireteam, squad, and platoon movement with disciplined communications.
  • Conduct patrols, security, raids, clearance tasks, defense, and direct action in support of the mission.
  • Employ assigned weapons systems and understand the role of that weapon in the squad.
  • Follow and enforce chain of command during operations.
  • Build the operational record used later for command profiles, awards, and citations.

Pipeline Progression

This pipeline separates real-world alignment from how SOTF will apply the role in-game.

  1. Real-life enlisted route: recruit training followed by School of Infantry training before assignment to an infantry unit.
  2. Real-life officer route: officer accession, The Basic School, then infantry officer training before leading infantry Marines.
  3. Real-life recon route: infantry or officer foundation, screening/selection, reconnaissance training, and follow-on qualifications when assigned.
  4. SOTF route: orientation, basic infantry evaluation, MOS-specific qualification, field exercise, and billet assignment based on performance.

Operational Employment

This MOS should be used when it gives the member a real task inside the formation. The role should support the commander, squad, airwing, recon team, medical section, or staff element in a way that matches the real-world purpose of the MOS.

Command profiles using this MOS should follow the Kane West format: profile picture, rank and callsign, current role, deployment or prior-rank history where applicable, MOS/ADMOS, billet history, biography, qualifications, awards, citations, and a unit-associated background image.
