Real-Life Alignment

A Ground Reconnaissance Officer is a reconnaissance-focused officer billet associated with planning, leading, and supervising reconnaissance operations and reconnaissance Marines.

Current SOTF / V35 Use

For the current website, 0307 is the key deployment-era MOS for Kane West's 2nd Recon history. It must remain separate from his later HMLA-269 pilot identity.

Unit Association

This MOS is currently associated on the website with 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion / Force Recon. Future member profiles should use the background image tied to the member's assigned unit association.

Command Profile Rule

When this MOS appears on a command profile, the profile must preserve the member's rank, unit, and MOS at the time of each billet, award, citation, or deployment. Current MOS changes should not overwrite older deployment history.

SOTF Responsibilities

These responsibilities mirror the real-world function of the MOS while keeping it usable inside SOTF MISFIT operations.

  • Plan reconnaissance patrols and observation tasks.
  • Supervise reconnaissance Marines and small-team leaders.
  • Coordinate reporting, extraction, routes, and command updates.
  • Translate commander's intent into recon tasking.
  • Preserve deployment history under the correct rank and MOS.

Pipeline Progression

This pipeline separates real-world alignment from how SOTF will apply the role in-game.

  1. Real-life route: officer accession, The Basic School, infantry/reconnaissance-related training and screening as required, then assignment to reconnaissance leadership billets.
  2. SOTF route: officer approval, recon doctrine familiarization, small-team planning evaluation, command briefing evaluation, and assignment to 2nd Recon/Force Recon-associated profiles.
  3. Profile rule: if the member later changes MOS, keep deployment actions under the rank and MOS held at the time.

Operational Employment

This MOS should be used when it gives the member a real task inside the formation. The role should support the commander, squad, airwing, recon team, medical section, or staff element in a way that matches the real-world purpose of the MOS.

Website Integration Notes

Command profiles using this MOS should follow the Kane West format: profile picture, rank and callsign, current role, deployment or prior-rank history where applicable, MOS/ADMOS, billet history, biography, qualifications, awards, citations, and a unit-associated background image.
